03/17/2015
Pressed for fourth dimension this St. Patrick's mean solar day, I wanted to utilize the tiresome cooker. I used ane 12 oz. Deadeye Stout past Triton Brewing Co. and didn't measure the dark-brown sugar. I but patted the meat dry and added the sugar. I probably only used 3/4 cup total. We really liked the gustation of this meat, and eight hours was perfect for the meat, but as well long for the vegetables. I was worried the beer would make the dinner bitter, but it wasn't, at all. A nice repast that I would make again, only adding the vegetables about one - 1 1/2 hours later on starting the meat. Thank you, COUNTRYRAY, for sharing your recipe.
05/07/2012
i liked it alot but i thought it was a little biting. just could exist the sense of taste buds though considering my fellow loved it
03/25/2015
I loved this! I thought the combination of the brown sugar and beer was a perfect blend of bitter and sweet and the meat was fall-apart tender and moist. Fifty-fifty my husband, who is non more often than not a fan of corned beefiness, loved information technology. The simply change I fabricated was to mix the spice bundle (included with the corned beef I bought) in with the brown saccharide before rubbing it on the beef. This volition definitely be my go-to corned beef recipe from now on.
01/15/2013
This was great! I made this corned beef (minus the veggies) to utilise in a recipe for mini reubens found on this website. It was delicious!
11/05/2012
I think the beer adds likewise much of a bitter flavor to the meal, only I expect forrad to a calendar week of corned beefiness sandwiches.
03/18/2016
Yes, will definitely make this again! Everyone loved it. Changes: I ony put in a few potatoes in the crock pot for flavoring, only I don't like my potatoes or cabbage soggy so I steamed my cabbage separately and roasted my potatoes
03/12/2018
I've made this for years; my family loves it and would disown me if I didn't accept information technology for St Patrick's Solar day dinner! If you observe Guinness to be a bit too biting, I suggest using a blood-red or amber Irish beer similar Killians.
03/17/2016
This is my family'due south favorite St. Patrick's day dinner
03/15/2015
Came out crawly, I may utilise less brown sugar next fourth dimension although the sweetness wasn't offputting
03/05/2013
Made this for dinner this night, it was delicious. I used Coors Low-cal (it was the only beer I had) and added some apple juice to give it more sweet since some said it was bitter. I as well omitted the cabbage since I am the only one who volition eat it, this might accept also fabricated it less bitter.
03/07/2018
The biting is acquired past the stout beer...apply Budweiser and the light beer taste will exist just perfect without the strong bitterness...
12/15/2013
This is my go to recipe everytime for corned beef. We love this recipe even our picky 4yr erstwhile son gobbles this up!! Thanks
04/03/2017
I added pocket-size amount garlic powder, Italian seasoning & Hungarian paprika. Added the cabbage wedges during concluding 40 mins and so they wouldn't be too soggy. The corned beef was tender & very tasty. I will make this dish over again.
01/11/2017
This corned beef has the best flavor of any I've made!! I used i/2 of the cabbage and potatoes. The brownish saccharide and stout were unusual flavorings just very successful.
03/11/2018
No way will a 4 lb corned beef, 3 potatoes and 6 carrots serve 16 people. Maybe just a taste each, only not a full meal. Corned beef shrinks and can exist fatty depending on cutting. You lot need at to the lowest degree double the meat potatoes and carrots for 16 people.
02/04/2014
So delicious! Definitely will be making information technology again. I wasnt able to fit many potatoes or veggies because my crock pot is pocket-size, but I did add one large sweet irish potato, two small-scale cerise ones, a behemothic onion, and some carrots. So easy, so skillful!
03/19/2018
Dearest this recipe! I did a few of the suggestions in the other reviews. Used but one 12 oz. bottle of stout, rubbed a picayune prepared mustard on meridian then half the brown saccharide. Don't cook the veggies with the meat. Cook the carrots half way through the meat cooking fourth dimension. Cook the cabbage separate. So take the meat and carrot out of the cooking juices and cook the potatoes for nearly an 60 minutes on high. It is worth it. Everything was so expert!
03/18/2018
I prepared the corned beef equally directed and placed in slow cooker with stout beer already in place. Placed the 1/4 sections of cabbage on either side of meat. Pour rest of beer over. Cooked on low for 2 hours the added fingerling potatoes on i end of crockpot and baby carrots on other cease. Cooked another four hours and was beautiful and then flavorful. Will definately use this recipe once again and over again.
03/13/2017
This is very practiced! The sauce marinade is delicious. Simply affair is that , I have a large irksome cooker and information technology was to full with all the recipe called for.
03/19/2013
I made this for dinner tonight I used a stout beer. We found it a bit bland and too sweetness. I recommend to omit the sugar and maybe adding the spice package
03/27/2017
I concluded up turning the dull cooker up to loftier, because it simply didn't seem like information technology was cooking after about 3 ane/2 hours on low. I think you lot need a bigger cooker for all the ingredients, because i had a hard time plumbing equipment information technology all in my six quart cooker. The beer tastes was noticeable, perhaps moreso because i don't beverage beer. only it added alot of flavor, it was very good. I volition make again, only use less veggies, and may one canteen of beer instead.
03/19/2018
This turned out delish..got a hint of sugariness from the chocolate-brown sugar with all the other flavors mixed..I didn't modify anything and went according to the recipe..it's a hit with anybody in my family who were not fans of corned beef..thanks so much for this recipe!!
03/19/2018
The flavors were wonderful. My family asked me to save the recipe and definitely make information technology over again.
03/18/2018
I decreased the sugar and but used enough to rub over the brisket. The corporeality of vegetables needed to be decreased as there were only four of united states of america. The flavours of this dish were amazing. When I brand information technology again I will melt the brisket get-go and add the vegetables only 1-ii hours before eating! Splendid dish
03/20/2017
Followed the recipe, but did also add the flavor bundle from the beefiness. I used half the potatoes and vegetables information technology called for. Information technology was succulent - I did non experience it was bitter as another reviewers stated. I actually found the left-overs better the next twenty-four hours.
03/12/2017
This was wonderful! I added ii cans of Guinness! A keeper!! Had brioche rolls and fabricated sandwiches with sugariness honey mustard and horseradish ! Dandy!
03/19/2017
The dish was great, with the nighttime beer and brown sugar. It's the way I'm going next St Patty'due south day...
03/18/2018
I made this yesterday, St. Patricks Day The best I've e'er had bar none! The simply change I fabricated was to use a dark ale instead of the stout. The sweet potatoes were an added surprise! Besides the brown sugar! Tin can't wait to become at it once again today! Thanks!...Mark
03/17/2018
I made it in the crock pot 5LB 1hr on high iv hrs on low first-class.
03/18/2018
This turned out great. The only change I fabricated was putting in the cabbage later on iv hours of cooking and then connected for two hours. Will def make again!
03/eighteen/2018
This was THE BEST corned beef E'er!!!! Information technology was so tender and the flavor was phenomenal! Loved the sweet potatoes, although next time, I will add together them a little later in the process--they were VERY soft.
03/22/2020
Perfect combo of flavors and gives information technology a different twist with the sweet potatoes-
03/17/2017
I decreased the brown saccharide to ane/2 loving cup! This was the BEST corned beef we ever had! I volition definitely make it once more!
03/eighteen/2018
Made this exactly as the recipe was written and the whole family unit loved it!!
03/20/2017
Very piece of cake prep; splendid recipe. I prefer this over humid it on the stovetop, seems to gustatory modality ameliorate cooked slowly. Highly recommend.
03/18/2018
This was not bad! I brand corned beef in my crock pot several times a twelvemonth and this was the accented best yet. I added the veggies about ii hours before the beef was done and they turned out just correct. This is at present my fashion of cooking corned beef.
03/18/2018
I've always employ the crock pot to brand it. Instead of using Guinness stout I used Porter instead and halved the brown saccharide. Had it with the stout in one case and it made the potatoes very bitter. I also use my homemade pickling spice. Information technology was tender and tasty. Always core the cabbage, more tender and uniform. Great recipe.
03/18/2018
Made this for St. Patty'southward twenty-four hour period and it was the best corned beef I've ever served. I used a 14.9 oz can of drought stout Guinness and a haeaping cup of brown carbohydrate and followed directions with the exception of cooking the corned beef on high for near an hour and a half. I and then added the potatoes (babe red and Gold's sliced in one-half) likewise as baby carrots, cabbage and turning it down to low for 4 hours. Wish I had added the cabbage the terminal hour ( or even steamed as ane reviewer mentioned) so it wouldn't have been so wilted merely even so the flavor was outstanding. This is going in my recipe box for sure!
03/xviii/2018
The Guinness stout added an extra layer of flavor and the corned beef turned out super tender.
03/20/2018
Recipe with 4 lb brisket, 1-2 less veggies per item, easily serves four people. 1 onion more than than enough. Cooked 8 hours even on depression is too long, vegetables almost disintegrated. Adjacent time, I volition cook on stove summit in dutch oven. i 1/2 cups brown saccharide was too sweet, I would cut that in half. Cut vegetables in larger chunks. Season was astonishing with Stout Guinness. Have passed on the recipe to family unit and will definitely make it once more.
03/17/2018
I cooked it every bit per directions but I did not intendance for the taste next time i volition not apply the beer
03/17/2017
I did not intendance for this recipe. I used my favorite stout beer, which is not very bitter at all, merely when heated in the crock pot it turned into a big pot of disappointment. I spent an actress 45 minutes doctoring information technology up only to brand information technology edible.
03/xviii/2017
The meat was fork tender and very flavorful. I used much less brown sugar than called for (only virtually a tablespoon) because we swallow a low carbohydrate diet. I added a tablespoon of whole pink peppercorns. No one tasted any bitterness whatsoever from the stout, only depth of flavor. Served with soda bread toasts on the side. I volition brand this every St. Patrick'due south Solar day! Thanks for the recipe.
03/18/2018
I really liked the flavors BUT: 1. No way this feeds more than four, 5 at a stretch 2. Barely fit into my large crock pot leaving out the cabbage 3. Veggies should Not go in the same time equally beef if you plan to melt on low for six-viii hours. Too mushy. Merely nosotros did eat this up on St. Patty's Day 2019!
03/eighteen/2018
This was a keen meal, I adjusted it slightly past using 2 large sugariness potatoes 4 ruby potatoes 1/ii a head of cabbage. This recipe doesn't telephone call for seasonings then the next time I brand information technology I will add 1 tbsp of garlic table salt and one tbsp of ground black pepper.
03/18/2018
Made information technology exactly like the recipe sans carrots. Excellent! Not bad flavour and it was the most tender corned beef I ever made.
03/18/2018
Fabricated the slow cooker Corned Beef and it was excellent. As with whatsoever recipe that I make , I am never true to the recipe and simply use it as a base of operations. Usually brand some modifications along the mode. The slow cooker made the Corned Beefiness very tender and it was thoroughly enjoyed down to the terminal bite. No left overs , very sad.
03/18/2018
Delicious! Didn't use the whole amount of brown saccharide , simply coated the exterior liberally. Will definitely use this recipe again!
03/18/2018
Yeah I volition make it once again.. my guests loved it. The only matter I did dissimilar was I used beefiness goop instead of the stout beer. Excellent recipe
03/17/2017
I took the advice of someone who mentioned using the tea ball for the spices. As well made certain to melt on low for viii hours. It was a huge hitting with so many at the party commenting information technology was the best corned beef and cabbage they had ever had.
03/17/2017
This is and then tasty! I cut the vegetables into large chunks rather than chopping them, merely otherwise followed the directions to the letter. My family thought information technology was delicious. Will definitely brand this again.
03/12/2018
This delicious dish is Such a condolement nutrient tradition and smells wonderful while cooking. I've used both reddish and sweet potatoes, or simply red potatoes; in a pinch simply russets. I sometimes add together celery and do the cabbage separately. I Haven't Used brown saccharide as I find the Guinness and seasoning packets that come up with the meat sufficient and not too sweet. I program to make it in my new instant pot this year.
03/11/2018
I put mustard on and so applied brown sugar and cooked my on low for 8-10 hours, and equally it says utilise guinness or a stout or porter.
10/29/2018
Best I've ever made. It was juicy and tasty and wowed after. The simply things I did differently....I did not utilize a sugariness tater every bit I did not take one on mitt. And, I would use more red potatoes next time, maybe 4 or 5....As well, I did not have Stout beer, so I used a regular beer that we had on hand.
03/twenty/2018
We loved this recipe! The stout actually added a great flavor. Our corn beef was only about two 1/2 lbs. I did not apply sweet potatoes considering I did not have any. I filled the slow cooker with as many vegetables equally it would concord. I as well used merely about i/2 cup of brown sugar. The left overs were wonderful. Thanks then much for the recipe!
03/18/2018
This St. Patrick'due south 24-hour interval dinner this year was both delicious and simple. I loved this recipe and I dear my boring cooker.
03/eighteen/2018
I made no changes to this delicious recipe !!!!
03/18/2018
I loved the simplicity of this primary dish. I used my larger crock pot, and everything only fit. I fixed it past eight:xxx AM, and forgot most dinner for the balance of the day. There was so much food for just my husband and me, that I invited ii single friends to join u.s.. They enjoyed the meal very much. I don't similar meat dishes to be sweet, so I only used half the brownish saccharide called for. Next year I will make this again, but with two changes. ane. I will leave out the sugar completely. 2. I will add together the sweet potatoes a little fleck later so they aren't so soft.
03/eighteen/2017
We really enjoyed this. I would have given information technology five stars, just I couldn't fit all the veggies in our crock pot. I think information technology should exist noted y'all need a really large crock pot to accommodate it all. Still, at the end of the day the corned beef was actually tender and the veggies were cooked (6 hours). The regular potatoes tasted like Guiness (kinda odd, but worked for us!) and the sweetness potatoes were falling apart. I might wait a bit longer to put the veggies in next year.
03/21/2017
I made this exactly as written, which I consider only fair before altering it. I My merely problem was that my corned beef brisket was just 3 lbs, not 4, and fifty-fifty in my large slow cooker, there were also many veg to fit. I liked the recipe very much, myself, but my husband didn't, and so much, because "information technology doesn't taste similar I'm used to." Silly human being. I will get in once more, though. Peradventure just not for St Paddy's.
03/nineteen/2018
A tad salty (probably the brand corned beefiness I used), and I'd likely soak it overnight should I get in again. Regardless, information technology was really quite good, and anybody enjoyed information technology. The beer adds a dimension I haven't tried earlier, which I liked.
04/01/2019
Unfortunately, I used a Stout beer, every bit directed, resulting in a strong bitter sense of taste. Please recommend the Guinness Draft just!
03/27/2018
I made this but several modifications based on ingredients on paw. Didn't have any stout so sub'd a hearty Budweiser variety and a little chix bullion to make upward the volume. I did a lot of improvising with what I idea would be expert and what I had on hand. About a lb of baby carrots. 1 1/2 lbs of babe potatoes, ruddy and white mixed. 2 onions cutting into 1/iv's. Opened, rinsed and trimmed the fatty off the 4 lb corned beef roast. Rubbed the entire roast with 1 envelope of onion soup. Sprinkled it with a little ground bay leave (been dying to endeavor this new addition to the spice armory) and granulated garlic. Oh yeah, I added that niggling spice pack you go into the beer at the beginning. No cabbage and so I cleaned and halved about 1 lb of brussel sprouts. Put the chapeau on, set for 8 hrs on low.
03/21/2018
Admittedly delicious! I will brand this once again for certain. Information technology doesn't all fit in ho-hum cooker. I had to use my Mom's very big pot she used for soup and made it stove top-low and slow.
03/twenty/2018
This was an splendid way to fix my corned beef this St. Patrick's 24-hour interval. Nosotros loved the flavors. I used Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin Ale, my favorite beer and it was not bitter at all. I merely had modest regal potatoes and they were great besides. Loved the addition of a sweet potato! My roast was only a piddling over 2 lbs, so I adjusted amounts, but stuck to the recipe. I did add the tiny packet of seasoning that came with the meat, sprinkling it on peak. It turned out really tasty, tender and done to perfection. Thank you for the not bad recipe!
03/16/2020
Not bitter, just don't forget the sugar.....I did...once...LOL. Added Bay leaf and clove of garlic....Used the spice pack.
03/17/2018
But used plenty sugar to coat the brisket (about 3/4 cup) and reserved one-half the vegetables to add in the last 60 minutes so that they retained some crispness. Yumm.
03/17/2018
Made it as instructed....Excellent! A nice alter for St. Patrick'south Day. Lots of wonderful leftovers. I volition get in once again.
03/eighteen/2018
Loved it. Meat and veggies were very tender. I will make this once again
03/18/2018
I followed the recipe using a 6 quart crock and not all the veggies fit. We weren't crazy about how tough the corned beefiness was even afterwards I extended the cook time. Mayhap it was the cut? Flavor was practiced simply probably will go back to my other ways of preparing our corned beef. Thank you for posting it though. It was worth a try. We set corned beefiness often and like to try recipes.
03/17/2018
I added a rub of minced garlic, basil, oregano to the brownish sugar rub. Too used shredded cabbage which I added ane hour before end time. Succulent ??
03/xviii/2021
This turned out amazingly delicious! My married man said it tasted like the all-time Prime Rib he'south ever eaten! Loftier praise indeed. I did have to change a couple of things, but not significantly. I discovered that my brown saccharide was a large ROCK, and then was unable to actually rub it all over the brisket. Rather, I had to chip off a lump and deliquesce it in the stout (I did utilize Guiness). I slow-cooked it overnight, took it out and let it cool and sliced it. Put information technology in the refrigerator until dinner. I And then cooked the veggies - I don't like them mushy - in my instant pot in the broth from the corned beefiness. Information technology was SO GOOD! St. Patrick would have DROOLED over it! Thanks for a not bad recipe!
03/18/2021
It came out very practiced and is a "keeper". I followed the recipe but did take a few suggestions beneath - I added the spice back with the 1st half of canteen of Guinness and also spiced out the adding of the Veges. I put the white potatoes and carrots in during the concluding iii i/ii hours and added the cabbage and sweetness potatoes during the final 2 i/two. They all came out perfect- not mushy at all.
03/15/2021
Looks practiced only definitely not for dibetics.
03/21/2021
I used Guinness as called for but reduced the brownish sugar to 3/4 cup. We prefer the potatoes and cabbage cooked separately and this year I roasted new potatoes and braised the cabbage with a little of the cooking liquid from the Crock.
03/23/2021
It was fantastic I had never used chocolate-brown carbohydrate on corned beef before, and had ever put the veggies on the bottom but putting them on top they cooked upward perfectly this volition be my go to recipe from here on out!
03/22/2021
No changes what so always! It was the BEST corned beef always to come out of my kitchen. I make corned beefiness and cabbage every year and decided I would try this. I do not sympathize the "biting" comments. Did they not apply the chocolate-brown sugar, did they utilise to much stout beer? I used 1 canteen of Guinness Stout ( I don't like beer!), used half in the crock pot as stated and the rest over the superlative of the veggies. I used both sweet and russet potatoes coarsely chopped the cabbage, half a big yellow onion and used a 1/ii handbag of baby carrots. All-time E'er! Follow the recipe and you will not be disappointed. Make changes and y'all change the way it turns out.
09/28/2020
Crawly flavor. Great become to recipe. This is my any day is corned beefiness day recipients!
04/02/2018
Made it without sweetness potatoes and added bay leaves. 3 our of 4 our the states actually liked or liked it. The fourth person ate it simply did not much treat it just she is elderly and has shifting gustatory modality buds these days. Nosotros should take gotten a larger corned beef.
04/03/2018
Slap-up stew and it was easy. Even so, my husband did non like the sugariness potatoes with the corned beef and did not similar the vegetables equally left overs considering of the sugariness potatoes. He felt they ruined the mix. I love sweetness potatoes but didn't care for them in this dish. Loved the beer as the liquid! Great proffer.
03/22/2018
Excellent taste!!
03/xviii/2018
My family did non care for the flavor of the stout. It needed more chocolate-brown sugar. Potatoes came out tasting bitter. Easy to prepare. Cooked on low for 6 hours. Won't make once again.
03/17/2019
I made this in the slow cooker but merely placed the corned beefiness and cabbage in the beer as I wasn't sure if I would like beer infused carrots and potatoes. The corned beef was really good but the cabbage cooked in the beer had an odd favor in my opinion. Next time I brand this, I will only put the corned beefiness in the beer and cook the other items separately.
04/25/2020
The tenderest corned beef ever made.
03/20/2018
This turned out fabulous. It was the best corned beefiness recipe I e'er fabricated.
03/25/2017
Admittedly perfect!
03/16/2017
Made this last yr and it was wonderful will make it again for St. Paddy's Day this week.
04/05/2018
The corned beef was tender, but the potatoes and carrots were biting from the stout. It was a very potent season in the vegetables. Probably will not employ this recipe once more. Sorry. Simply not our taste.
03/sixteen/2020
I'm non that wild about cabbage, and since I'chiliad lonely this week I skipped information technology; aforementioned for sweet potatoes. Otherwise, I followed the recipe, using Guinness Stout, and was very happy with the outcome. I'll be using this recipe again!
03/17/2018
I used a pale ale instead of a dark stout and used half of the brown sugar called for in this recipe, and no cabbage because we don't intendance for information technology.I don't intendance for the darker ales and neither does my husband. Adjacent time, I might apply the whole amount of brown sugar called for. I wanted to duplicate my mom's corned beef and she used a minumum corporeality of brown sugar, and then I do besides. We ate corned beef sandwiches for a couple of days. Delish!
03/17/2019
'meh! Nothing special at all. Sense of taste was lacking. I'll stick to the traditional recipe.
03/14/2018
Didn't brand whatsoever modify. I thought the flavor was ok but the veggies were mushy and the meat was dry.
03/17/2018
Super piece of cake and oh, so skillful! My husband's not a big fan of corned beef, but with the brown sugar (and beer), how could he not? This recipe is for a big deadening cooker. I had to cut mine most 50% for a two liter Crock Pot.
03/29/2018
This was soooo good -- I tin't imagine making corned beef any other way. I have several recipes that use beer, but I never idea of using beer with corned beef. My roast was smaller so I only used one bottle of Newcastle beer. I used red potatoes, onions and carrots, but I have a peachy cabbage casserole that I prefer. Couldn't have been improve.
03/18/2018
Very good! My family unit liked information technology a lot.
03/27/2018
I liked it, just my married man thought it was too sweet.
03/18/2018
Only alter I made was cooking the carrots potatoes & cabbage on the stove. I couldn't fit them all in my large crock pot. I dearest cooking in the crockpot so delicious & no mess. Everyone loved it so much there were no leftovers. The brownish sugar made it so sweet. We didn't find theguinness To be biting at all. Volition make this again. Delicious!!!
03/15/2021
Fabricated reasonable facsimile of this recipe this evening for St Patty'south Twenty-four hours and came out great! Used small, scarlet potatoes, whole cabbage head, stout (of course) and pepper/allspice/bayleaf/etc. Whole house smells fabulous and corned beefiness was wonderful! Required most vi+ hours on Loftier to get meat tender, but worth it! Definite recommend.
